We were asked by Whitworths if we wanted to join in with an Easter challenge with the children to get us recreating some Easter classics.
After the children had a good rummage through the hamper they picked out their favourite fruity treats that they wanted to add to their bark. Neither Harry nor Grace are a big fan of nuts yet so they decided to stick with the dried fruit and chocolate- who wouldn’t?!
Harry’s favourite dried snack was the raisins and Graces the apricots so they really enjoyed sprinkling these onto the melted chocolate. There was also a fruity and shortcake Shotz snack with they added also.
We really enjoyed the challenge and loved that it got us all working together doing a family activity, and its always a bonus when you can eat it all up afterwards! We actually packed it up and took it with us on a picnic over the Easter weekend as an after lunch snack, so it was huge hit!
Any opportunity to try and get the children snacking a little healthier is always a bonus for me, they are still making their way through the bagged apricots and raisins when they come home after school and are wanting a snack whilst I finish making dinner.
If you still have cupboards full of Easter Chocolate its also a fab way of getting through it a little more! I have included the recipe below which we followed in case you want to have a go yourself. If you do please tag me as I would love to see your creations.
